Professional experience has focused on applied research on civil, transportation, and systems engineering projects such as pavement management systems, geographic information systems, referencing systems, and planning models. Research subjects have included traffic safety, geometric design, traffic operations, planning models, maintenance operations, linear referencing systems, remote sensing, pavement management, and intelligent transportation systems. Research and outreach activities include management of the Iowa Traffic Safety Data Service, which performs crash analysis for federal, state, and local agencies; and data management, integration and distribution for the Iowa Pavement Management Program.
