InTrans students see success at MOVITE Spring Conference

Institute for Transportation (InTrans) students earned numerous awards at the Missouri Valley District of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (MOVITE) 2025 Spring Conference.

The students, who are a part of Iowa State University’s Transportation Student’s Association (TSA), received both the Outstanding Student Chapter and Student Chapter Momentum awards.

The Outstanding Student Chapter Award recognizes the students’ efforts in professional development, outreach, and engagement. The Student Chapter Momentum Award is awarded to the student chapter that experienced the greatest momentum from the previous year.

“These recognitions reflect the dedication of our incredible team, who continuously strive to strengthen the chapter through impactful events, expanded outreach, and a strong commitment to learning and service,” said then-Iowa State TSA Vice President Sara Arezoumand, who is now an InTrans postdoctoral researcher.

Arezoumand also credited TSA’s advisor’s InTrans’ Anuj Sharma and Jonathan Wood for their support and encouragement along the way.

“I’m so proud of what we’ve built together, and excited for what’s ahead for TSA at Iowa State University,” Arezoumand said.

Additionally, at the conference, three InTrans students were also recognized individually with different awards. InTrans doctoral students Ashutosh Dumka and Sanjita Prajapati, both studying under Sharma, received the Thomas J. Seburn Student Paper Award, and Wasama Abdullah, then-Iowa State TSA president and now an InTrans researcher, earned the Jan Kibbe Student Scholarship, which is intended to encourage engineering students to pursue a career in traffic or transportation engineering.
