About the research

This document is the work plan for the Statewide Urban Design and Specifications (SUDAS) program. The work plan involves the administration of the SUDAS program, revisions to the SUDAS Design and Specifications manuals, and SUDAS-related research. Task 1 of this project is to provide overall management of the SUDAS program and Task 2 is to maintain the SUDAS manuals. The SUDAS program will continue to revise and update the SUDAS manuals. These revisions will be generated from committees, requests received, or research conducted. Revisions are reviewed by the District Committees as well as the Board of Directors. The approved changes to the manuals are then issued through yearly revisions distributed to all manual holders. Task 3 is to provide communication to the public works community on activities of the SUDAS program and relevant research findings and Task 4 is to participate in SUDAS-related research. SUDAS-related research may yield revisions to be considered for the SUDAS manuals. Some SUDAS technical committees serve as the oversight committees for these various research projects. The SUDAS program will continue to develop topics and proposals for research to address SUDAS design guidance and construction specifications. SUDAS staff will monitor other research projects that could yield revisions and/or additions to the SUDAS manuals.
